Like every nursery, we follow the Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS) — the framework we all work within, guided by Birth to Five Matters and Development Matters.
The BON Curriculum is built on these foundations, but shaped by us — our style, our values, and what we believe our children are capable of.
Every child completes a baseline assessment once they're settled with us. We then share an assessment with parents every year to track outcomes and prepare each child for their eventual move to Reception. In between, our team is constantly tracking each child's progress and building next steps around the milestones they've reached, their interests and our varied weekly topics.
Our teaching is ambitious and sequential: we start with each child's own individual starting point, and everything we do builds on what came before, stage by stage, all the way through the nursery. We don't just want children to make progress — we want every child to leave us having gone further than they, or we, ever thought possible when they first walked through our doors.
Based on the three prime areas of the EYFS — these threads run through every room, from Baby to Pre-School.
Able to build complex sentences and tell their own stories, think through ideas with an adult alongside them, and speak up confidently in a group — whatever stage of talking or language they're at.
Willing to have a go, ask questions, test ideas out and solve problems for themselves — rather than waiting to be told what to do or think.
Settled and confident in who they are, with the resilience to manage their feelings and build strong, meaningful relationships with others.
We want what happens here every day to be seen clearly, not just felt. Wherever your child is in the nursery, whichever room and whoever's working with them, they should be building on the same foundations — toward the same ambitious goals — in a way that makes sense as they move up through us.
